I'd like to add to the context. I am using Ableton 10 on a Windows 10 Dell Precision M4800 laptop with an Akai MPK225. When I am playing back a MIDI piece and the controller is not plugged in, the notes are perfectly in tune. When I plug in the controller, I can sit there an input notes. After a while, the pitch begins to drift by 1/4 or 1/2 step on the notes I am inputting. Then the already recorded notes on the same armed track begin to drift. I have to unplug the controller and restart Ableton for the notes to be in tune again. I thought maybe I am touching some knobs some where and throwing things out of tune, but I made a point of changing only the octave up and down button and still experienced the problem. Then the notes can just stop being out of tune on their own. On one of the tracks it was happening every so many bars. I can't figure out what's going on to save my life.

Is your controller maybe sending accidental pitch bend messages?
