I hope no one flames you over the title to this thread, it might be funny to some.

Anyways, maybe use some kther dance records as a reference to see how those producers deal with that situation. Often times a break down then bringing back the high energy can be beneficial.

wear 2 or 3 or 4 condoms instead of just 1

edit: but seriously, you can:
- make an extended breakdown then drop the main section again
- write another section and lead it to its own climax, then make a third section with elements from both previous ones with a FUCKING EPIC climax
- etc

save that part for the end... or maybe start changing it... one thing I do sometimes when I have this problem is just move my midi clips around... move maybe a lead or bass line to another synth patch so it's still playing the same thing but a different sound...

another thing i'll do is cut apart the midi/audio clips, maybe there's a cool 2 beats or notes in a clip that you like, try putting them at a different spot (sometimes ill cut off the end of one clip and the beginning of another and put them together)... you could also try taking your drums and quantizing them differently... a cool thing to do is copy the midi clip for you drum beat and select all the notes and move them to the right a 1/2 beat... it creates a nice shuffle between peaks... got that idea from Bassnectar

When I was having this issue i asked my old music teacher (majored in classical composition, so he knows how to "finish" a song) and he gave me the idea to make two peaks by taking a couple sounds out of the big peak, have the song build up and get going, then break it down (re-quantizing and soloing clips) down everything and the listener begins to understand the composition of the song as it changes, then after the bridge/breakdown thing put the full peak that you already have... having the smaller peak before it will help make it sound bigger...

all in the arrangement....
maybe re-itterate a past theme or verse?
find news ways to build higher (+delay, + new parts attached to delay, pitch some/all parts up. inch pitch up, inch delay up, add distortion)
add "breaks" in build --- duck to have some vocals, etc... then continue build

Don't tense up your muscles, specifically those in your hip and thigh area. Speeds up the process.

Subtractive arrangement.

Make that the peak of your song and start stripping stuff away.

I think david guetta's tracks are really good examples of how to manage those stuff.
Just listen to it and take notes. Forget that you like it or not, it works.

not everything has to be intense. your perception can be off as the composer and see a simple part as uninspiring or stale but you have to try and listen to it from a listener's point of view.

On the other hand, what is wrong with writing 2 minute tunes? Or 1 minute? Or 30 seconds?

Have a look at the times on this Dynarec album.
