hey guys,
I've heard lots of example of productions where it sounds like the vox have been pitched down an octave. But when I apply the transpose function in Live, the vocals are no longer clear. they lose their diction.
how are others achieving this effect, but keeping the vocals legible?
cheers
How to pitch down vox but keep their diction?
Re: How to pitch down vox but keep their diction?
try a different algorithm, like re-pitch or complex, etc...
try them out if one might work better then the other.
also, if you transpose down, maybe try to apply a tiny bit (really just a notch, nothing radical) EQ after transposing to lift the mid/highs a tad and make them 'cut' through a bit more again.

Could also be a female voice pitched down which would work quite nicely. It would sound like a man but would be cleaner.

Try the QuikQuak Pitchwheel vst. It has a 'Keep Formants' option which keeps the integrity of the sound even under extreme settings; very cool.

Its probably more likely that what you hear is actually a pretty deep voice to begin with, and then pitched down a few semi tones. An octave is pretty extreme but perhaps!
hope that helps
