FX loop in Ableton - having Live audio fx b4 my external fx?

Post by Faldoe » Sun Sep 05, 2010 7:07 pm

What I've been doing thus far is running my pedalboard into my audio interface/into Live. I then add Live audio effects to track input. This means though that all my external effects go into the Live fx. I'd like to be able to run some live effects into my board so I can have, say for instance, the Redux go into my Eventide Timefactor delay. Is this possible? Is there a way to insert the live fx before my guitar pedals?

If you have Live 8 and a soundcard with enough inputs and outputs then yes you can do this.

Say you run the guitar into some of your pedals, into the audio interface, through effects, then add an "External Instrument" device which you route to an unused output, to some of the other pedals and back into the audio interface.

If you don't have Live 8 then you can still do this via track routing options but it's more difficult.
