Suite owners like myself will be pleased with this update, I'm sure.

But I don't think I'm alone in feeling that Ableton are charging far too much for Amp/Cab as a standalone add-on to Live...

I hope I don't have to pay. I had suite 7 (edu), upgraded to 8 paying normally, and now my profile tells me that I own live 8 and 11 add ons, but not suite. If they want to charge me a hundred euros for this amp, then I will be bitter.

Sounds all cool - but I do get terribly nervous everytime Ableton releases a new version. Especially those where they introduce new techniques. I'll be watching with binoculars over here, in case you guys start to burn. Holding my fingers crossed though.

Just leave your previous version installed as well and install 8.2 and try it for yourself?

Then if its a bad egg, you can still use your previous version - as long as its after 8.1.3 I think

Me too, Softube is one of the best plugin manufacturer around. But i would find it more generous if Abes would make it available to all 8 users, as a compensation for the 8.0 versions trouble many users had to endure...

About Amp - like other instruments and effects that come bundled with Suite, Amp is available as an effect for individual purchase. Live users have access to locked instrument racks which feature Amp, and provide a set of preset effects that should help you decide whether you're interested in purchasing Amp.

Hi,

non-Suite users also get AMP as racks, but you can't edit them. Quote from our download page:

"Live 8.2 also includes free collection of effect racks that include sounds from the latest effect included in Suite 8.2 - Amp. You'll find many of these in the new "Guitar Amp" folder in the Audio Effect Rack section of Live's Device Browser. The new Instrument Rack presets all contain "(Amped)" in the name, and can be found throughout your Instrument Rack folders."

Best,
Nico
