info about the Sampler device

Post by nc2010 » Wed Sep 22, 2010 8:08 am

Hello,
I'm doing a multisample soundbank using the Sampler device. I have recorded 3 samples for each single note. I would like that when I play a note, only one of these 3 samples play (the choice should be random) : is it possible with the Sampler device ?

Thanks!

PS:the fact of having 3 samples playing randomly on a note will help my soundbank to be more natural, less predictable...

Hi,

first, I'd recommend (for any Sampler user) to download the free "Samplification" pack from the Ableton website. It includes a lesson about Sampler that you can find in the Live Help view > Show Add-on Lessons.

For your question on how to set up 3 round robins for a multisample:

1) Open Sampler Zone tab and distribute your 3 note variations over the Sample Selector Range
2) Open Sampler Modulations tab
3) Enable LFO 2 with the following settings:
Retrigger On
Type: S&H (the bottom one)
Freq: 0.01Hz
Rate: Hz
Target A: Sample Selector
Tarbet A Value: 100%

From here on, each note you play will randomly trigger one of the 3 round robins. Technically, the LFO will modulate the Sample Selector randomly with each note you play;

Hope this helps.

Daniel
