Is there any new info about Ableton Share?
I'm sorta assuming it's a Live 9 feature now?

Just curious, it sounded like such neat functionality.

Hi everyone - at the moment, we are still working on an ideal solution for Live asset sharing. In the mean time, we suggest trying out a free Dropbox account, which will give you 2 GB of cloud storage space, and allow you to share your creations with others. You can learn more at http://www.dropbox.com.

Share is a big disappointment for those who upgraded and a bigger mark of shame for Ableton. Every time I think about it I feel ripped off, and from a company I used to love.

iIs it even legal what they did ? nebs ?

with all the unstability issues the problem of a missing share function was pretty redundant for many users, incl me.
Over one year with highly reduced production fun weight much more than not beeing able to share preset sound creations

beside that they probably have the standard term in theire user licences that they are allowed to change or remove features when necessary... havent read all the small printing but its usually there with any product.

so its probably not unlegal to piss off some customers by going the way of the smallest harm.

I posted this in another thread a few months back. it's an alternative you can use until Ableton share is good to go...

A good way to collaborate on a set (as long as one of you do not have a newer version of Live than the other) is to use Dropbox, it is a free online file sync application which is cross platform, Windows, OS X, Linux & even iPhone / Android. It's totally integrated with your operating system and just shows up as a folder (the contents of which, are uploaded online and synced with any other computer you may have Dropbox installed on). You can set up a shared folder with anyone you wish to collaborate with and put the Live Project in that folder (just remember to collect all and save). It takes all the hassle out of sending files back and forth and it is uber simple to use

You get a totally free 2GB of space and if you sign up via this link you (and I) will get an additional 250mb added to our free space (up to a huge max of 10GB) everyone wins...

https://www.dropbox.com/referrals/NTM2NjIwNjI5

To say it's useful is an understatement. Oh and I forgot to mention that as soon as you sign up you just follow 5 simple tutorial steps that are on the site and that nets you an additional 250mb too...so using my link and doing the 5 steps which takes about 5 min gives you an instant 2.5GB of space :)

I forgot where I read the post on here, but someone claimed that "Share" was kind of underwhelming, and might be why it got canned.

I'm pretty sure it didn't do much that Dropbox doesn't already do, other than have and official Ableton stamp.

If it is fully implemented ever I would hope they would go a route like this:

A place on their servers kind of like the NI User Library where people could share presets and settings, instrument racks, drum racks, and Live sets. Plus anything else that I may have missed.

Something like a small social ecosystem geared towards Live users only.

Anyone tried using some type of version control? Possibly SVN?
