I recently tried to open a file with my toaster but the file was too large for the toaster to handle. Yup, that bagel got jammed in there, the machine started to smoke and the whole thing effectively crashed.

Luckily I was able to recover the data and avoided electricution. The bagel was burnt, but sometimes burnt tastes nice. Analog distortion is good stuff.

I read a Live 4 review in Computer Music. Then one day I went through my CD ROMs and found that I had Live Delta 1.5 which came with my Audiophile card.

I didn't have a receipt but I e-mailed Ableton and offered to send in my CD to get an upgrade to v4. I ended up paying $299 and am *extremely* happy that I did.

I have actually never used a cracked copy of Live, nor of any of the VST's or VSTi's I own, or any of the other sequencers/studios I have (Reason, FLS, Tracktion) and I'm rather proud of that. Blood, sweat, and tears. (And a burning hot credit card).

I put in a ton of overtime. It feels good to pitch in on the development of great software.

I had a cracked toaster, it had a crak in the metal covering, but it worked out really fine, espially raisin bread ... hmm

then, suddenly one day, it said: "this toaster seems to have a copyright infringement", wich was true. I tried everything to get it working again.

In the end I order a MicroWave Oven, wich had a discount for the toaster, so I could get both at a more reasonable price than the two seperatly...

And yeah, I payed for live 4 (well, the Delta upgrade, but whatever)

I bought the korg micro control for 300 and it came with lite version, which worked great because you need a midi controller, then upgraded for 250

when i got live it was like one of those dreams when you are in some store and you see something in one of those bargain bins where things are dirt cheap and you cant believe it was in there. Yup i paid 75$ canadian and got the liscense and everything. But after i had to upgrade from version 1 up to version 4 though, but still i didn't spend that much! 8)

p.s. the other amazing thing was reason 2.5 was in the same bin for $100!!!

am I right in thinking that cracked versions dont work for very long anyway?? I guy I know had a cracked version of Live 3 and he said that after a while it was doing loads of wierd stuff & it wouldnt let him export the audio anymore.... if this is the case, why the hell would anyone want a cracked one anyway???

I paid the 399, got broke, had to take a bad loan to make it over Christmas, am still broke, but at least productive now and then.
Made me sorry to hear about the 299 offer. But that's my usual story, there was always a better way that I didn't know of. Hope that after reincarnation that knowledge will stick. But if I will become a bumblebee I may not use Live and all the flowers will be free.

$175 used, the Ableton guys were great about the transfer. Never looked back. Just saw another copy go for $125 at KVR.
