Using Sl3 as phono preamp

Can i use serato sl3 as a phono preamp for recording my turntables directly into ableton via my soundcard without using the serato record feature? I want to hook it up like turntable-sl3-soundcard (edirol ua 101) - mac. I want to record straight into ableton first then edit gains etc then save and import to scratchlive.
