Rest in Peace - "Panasonic ends production of Technics"

Post by rsaulo » Tue Nov 09, 2010 8:29 am

Well,

The time has come, there is no market to sustain a big analog turntable investiment anymore...

Even with softwares like serato, traktor scrath, etc...

The reason :
On October 20, the company said that it was winding down production of the Technics SL-1200MK6 analog turntable, the SH-EX1200 analog audio mixer and the RP-DH1200 and RP-DJ1200 stereo headphones due to challenges in the marketplace.

Oh well - guess anyone after a TT now will have to make do with some all dingin all dancing hip-hop usb-battle deck shite from stanton/vestax/numark etc.

Maybe that was the problem - folks are only buying that crap along with cheapo stanton cartidges with brick on the tone arm to stop thier incompetant heavy paws from making the damn thing jump all over the place.

Never even knew there was one?

Being a fashion victim, Ive got the M5G (blue leds woopee!) - still use them as much as my CD decks and tracktor and TBH with the cartidges on them - they sond way way nicer than anythign else I have, so I still buy stuff on vinyl occasonally.
Nothing to see here - move along!

:!: Not this story again! Every year, the same thing - Technics ends (maybe, I don't see any links to a Panasonic statement) the production of one version of its SL-1200s and everyone jumps on the doomsday bandwagon saying Technics is ending the production of all its turntables.

The SL-1200MK6 was a limited edition turntable for Technics' 35 anniversary. They still have the MK5s, MK2s, M5Gs, etc....
On October 20, the company said that it was winding down production of the Technics SL-1200MK6 analog turntable, the SH-EX1200 analog audio mixer and the RP-DH1200 and RP-DJ1200 stereo headphones due to challenges in the marketplace.
