I don't hear that in any of those demos.. marketing fail or its simply not capable of doing it at all..
Yes it does have HPF/LPF filters in series (with resonance).
my bad.. I meant not getting that specific
character from the HPF/LPF compared to the real deal..
GTFO here with that MS20 connoiseur BS. It does have the specific character of the real deal. It has that hard edge I know from the original.
But let's not forget that they added two Kaoss Pads and a sequencer. This is far more than a MS20.

I have to agree that so far this is the best iOS music app by miles. I love the fact that the drum souds are created using the synth engine. The GUI is fantastic. It's actually much more enjoyable using this than the Korg Legacy collection MS20 controller (which I also own). Just need some way of syncing this with Ableton and I'm in heaven.
So you have it allready? is there anything from korgs side to sync with the outsideworld? or routing pages for audio output where you might be able to direct audio streams to other apps?

Checked out the demo video, and sound comparisons aside, I refuse to get excited about any more iPad synths until they support MIDI in and out. This will be possible with iOS 4.2 and then it will be up to the developers to implement it.
Tweaking parameters on a touch screen: win
Playing notes on a touch screen keyboard: no

I thought this was already possible with the line 6 midi mobilizer? How will os 4.2 allow midi to go into the iPad?

I'm not sure about the Line 6 but I'm sure the app developer has to do some programming within the app to make it send and receive MIDI and if it did I'm sure that's something they would advertise. I'm not completely sure what "full MIDI support" means in OS 4.2 but it is something Apple is advertising and at the very least I would think it means you'll be able to get some kind of generic MIDI adaptor that plugs into the iPad port and you're set.
I'm hoping for across the board updates on all existing music apps to allow for this and on all future apps.

Cool. When the hell is 4.2 coming anyways? I need folders on my iPad way more than my phone.
Edit, nevermind, just searched: November.

I don't understand the big deal. the Korg MS20 VST has been around for years.
I wish Moog would release THEIR iphone app to VST land.

As one reviewer pointed out on iTunes it's very powerful but I have no fucking clue how it works, possibly because I have no experience with the original or plug-in?

Sounds like you probably don't get the appeal of the whole multitouch ipad thing entirely? Anyway, iMS20 is not the same thing at all as a "MS20 VST". For one, the multitouch interface aspect changes how you interact with it drastically from clicking around with a mouse/trackpad to being able to move around multiple things at once with your fingers directly which makes it faster to work with for most people. Secondly, iMS20 is not just a MS20 emulation. It adds two kaoss pads, 14 effects, 16 step analog-style step sequencer and a 6 part drum machine, which makes it worthy of being considered a new instrument, especially with the phenomenal multitouch workflow.

you have to learn what the patching does.. without patching it's a very basic synth..
