Anyone using a 37 key midi controller?
Anyone using a 37 key midi controller?
I have been using an M-Audio Axiom 61 (first gen) for quite some time but I need more space on my desk. I'm also going to start traveling a lot more so I'll need to get a controller that fits in my suitcase. 25 keys is a bit too small for me. I'm wondering if anyone uses a 37 key controller who may have switched from 49 or 61. Does 37 seem acceptable when writing?

I went from a few years of a Virus TI-K with 61 keys to a few different 37-key controllers. Mainly the Novation SL37 or the TI Polar. Personally it's my favorite keybed size, small but still useable. Unfortunately I'm stuck with a MPK25 right now, as I wanted something that would fit next to my APC. I'm sorely tempted to get teh MPK49 lately, though I'd love it if they came out with a 37 key version, I'd get that in a heartbeat.

I also am a fan of the 37. I had a an Axiom 61, and it was nice to never hit the transpose, but I don't have any sort of formal training, so opted to give up keys for space and I don't regret it.

I've got controllers of every size, and the 37 is so useful. But who makes one anymore? When the last generation of MIDI controllers appeared, the 37 key models disappeared.

The Novation SL37 is the ballz, wether it's new or not.
There is also the i2 Garagekey 37. I have one for sale if your interested.

Line 6 Pod Studio KB37, which also serves as my audio interface on my desktop (which, for some reason, doesn't go well with USB hubs at all). The size is ideal for me.

The Korg microKey looks promising. The old M-Audio Ozonic seems like it could be a fit as well.

I don't like the Korg mini keys. I'm glad to see the KB37 is still being made.
Still, the main manufacturers have abandoned the 37 key models. Guess they didn't sell well. I plan on keeping my ReMote SL37 MkI forever.

Edirol PCR-300 here. 32 keys. Just the right size and lots of sliders and knobs. Picked mine up for $80 at GC blowout last year.
