I'm guessing you don't have Live Suite, or are not too impressed with Drum Machines in Live Suite's samples ?

The best 808 sounds IMHO are from Nepheton, a vst/au plugin by D16. These are not mere samples, but actually synthesized like a real 808.

currently on sale for 40% at 59 euros.

As for Samples - lots to choose from, 808 samples are all over the web from free to mucho cash.

I'm all about the Goldbaby sets, got the 808 and 909 and use them on almost every track

Short of owning a real TR808 though, Nepheton is more realistic to the original sounds. Ditto D16's 909 emulation, Drumazon.

Nothing like a tape-saturated sample though. At least not without a shitload of work.

there is - create a tape saturated sample of your own using Nepheton

BTW - I don't work for D16. But if they're watching and want to give me any freebies, I'm a shameless gearslut and will accept

sooooo would you say nephton is just a plugin that is just an 808 kick? or does it have like the snare as one "preset" and the kick as a separate preset??? If it isn't, does anyone know of anything like that?!?! Or any 808 kick/bass vst/plugin?!?!?!

nepheton is an 808 emulator and a damn good one at that .. so you get a full 808 drum machine Image
