recording maschine patterns as midi in live problem

Sorry to ask this here but i'm not yet on the NI forum.

I'm struggling to find an answer anywhere for what i'm trying to do. I basically want to record the midi from the patterns on maschine in live. I can get it to pick up the the midi from the drum pads no problem using this method

but as soon as i try and play a pattern from inside maschine it doesn't pick up the midi.

basically i've made a load of patterns in maschine and want to jam along in maschine changing patterns etc and record the midi (not the audio) in live. I'd even be happy if live would just record the pattern changes but i can't get it to do this either

Have you set the midi track in Live to receive from the external maschine or the vst version?

I'm not sure if that would make a difference but maybe one works better?

I thought you could just drag the audio or midi patterns over to Live? Does that work for you?

Assume you are on a PC? Windows7?

i'm on pc win7 yes. I can drag and drop but it's not what i'm looking for. I like the flow you can get when jamming with maschine, quickly switching between patterns etc i'd like to be able to integrate this in to my tracks. i've not been able to get it to work as a standalone yet. I've only had the maschine a few days so i'm still a little unsure on the whole thing.

I've only had Maschine a few days too.

And I can't run it stand alone on one of my PCs but it works great on another.

I'll plug it back into the working PC and see what I can do to achieve what you want.

I suspect its to do with setting the routing correct.

Are you running Maschine in midi mode? Shift + Control

Not possible (for patterns you recorded with Maschine kits) without crappy work arounds. This is the main reason I sold Maschine.

There is info about the work arounds and a feature request in the NI forum.

Pfft! That's rubbish. Hope it's something they address. Seems like it should be really easy to implement. Will look up the workarounds. Thanks.

Thanks very much for posting that. Can't check it out until tomorrow now but I'll let you know how I get on.

I think there is enough noise about this that they will add it in a new release. It drives me mental but I can't imagine selling Maschine because of it!

Maschine's great, but I do a lot of MIDI, and it just made more sense for me to use Ableton for my non-linear stuff. I still miss some of Maschine's pluses though.

Struggling to get this workaround to work. I've downloaded the kits that have been changed by the user on the NI forum. I'm not sure if i should just copy them over the kits that are in the maschine library and if thats all i need to do.

I tried doing it the way it shows in the first link that jbone1313 put up. but i don't know how to do this -

"Create a new project with a new group, whereby each pad's SRC is set to MIDI out"

sorry, I'm still getting to grips with it.
