Saying goodbye to a friend, Leedsquietman passed away.

Post by Tarekith » Wed Dec 29, 2010 9:07 pm

It is with an extremely heavy heart that I have to be the one to let you know that Leedsquietman (Martin Brown) passed away shortly before the holidays. We don't know the details, only that he died in his wife's arms on December 21st.

If you've been a part of this community for any amount of time, no doubt you know Leeds as one of the most knowledgable and helpful members of the forums. He never failed to take time out to offer advice, tips, and problem-solving help to MANY members here, from those new to production, to some of the most experienced producers around. His advice and friendliness will certainly be missed.

If you have any kind words to say, or a story involving Leeds to recount, please post it here and we will pass on a link to the thread to his wife. In addition, she's looking for any music he might have made collaberating with others, so please post that here as well.

I for one truly feel like I've lost a brother in arms, as we had many a great discussion on all facets of audio production.

Edit: If you wish to help Martin's family, a tribute album done by members of the forums he frequented is for sale. Details here:

Rest In Peace. He was one of the nicest people on this forum, even though I never met him personally but through all the dialogs we have shared on this forum, I am sad to say I have lost a friend. Rest in Peace.

This comes as a shock.
For the short time that I have been to this forum, I have always valued him as an experienced and helpful musician friend.

RIP

I am truly saddened by this news - Leedsquietman was a wonderful forum member who was always there to help anyone who needed it. All my thoughts go to his wife who must be going through hell at the moment. Rest in peace xxx

I am very sad. He helped a lot. Always available. Always cheerful.
I'm gonna miss him without even knowing him in person.
His digital and spiritual presence will remain, forever.
Rest in Peace.

Ugh this is horrible news; you could always learn something from what he had to say, and he was truly a chill guy. He'll be missed.

Leeds man, there was so much we had yet to do. you will absolutely be missed. thanks for the positive effects you had on my life both in teaching me production and being a chill voice on the forum. we never met but I know my life is better for having known you if only through the ether.

my condolences to Mrs. Brown, what an amazing guy to go through life with. thank you for being there for him, he seemed like a truly happy guy despite his health issues.

seriously bummed. denial, anger, sadness...

thanks for passing this along Tarekith. wow.

Always helpful, completely understood that a simple disagreement about some silly hardware issue or what not doesn't mean that you don't respect him. Even beyond his advice I really admired that ability to keep a level head about himself and others in terms of the written word. A huge amount of emotional maturity, that's always a great thing to have in a contributor to any discussion.

Kind of disappointed in myself for listening to his music and not remembering to give him some feedback on it. He had a sleeper track that was nicely out of character for him, just a solid little electronic almost 60's era ragtime number. 8)

Much respect to his wife, my sister is a widow too, and she's a rock, though I don't imagine it was easy.

Didn't see any links to his material in this thread, so here's the first, Youtube channel, one video.

Hard to express feelings about such terrible news.

So sorry for his family.

Leeds, as we affectionately know him will be well missed around here.

A true gentleman of the forum community and an incredible resource.

I, after reading this news, have shed tears for the first time over an interweb friendship.

Love and hope.

Si
