How do I produce this sound? (Audio example through Youtube)

Post by szeno » Tue Jan 04, 2011 7:48 pm

Hey guys,

Please follow this link here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-FBoaWmNSQ

How do I use get somewhere near the timbre of that panning pad (combined with some sort of electric-piano) that starts from the beginning of the song? I'm still quite bad at this.. sound design is like a crazy concept to me lol. I tried with all sorts of OSC waveforms combined. I think I got the volume/pitch envelopes right but it's nowhere near that kinda sound.

I have the instruments in live suite, fm8, absynth at my disposal by the way. Love that pad's timbre.. just wish I could get near that.

Help is much appreciated!

Sounds like an electric piano with a square wave modulating the pan.

use the Live Suite's Electric device.
there's an instrument rack preset that's pretty close, it's in the Live 8 library. search for 'Keys-Mellow'.
