midi-sync drop out

Post by ross » Sat Jan 15, 2005 7:39 am

I sync up two computers via slave and master. While connected I run into a midi sync drop out on my master computer.

any of you had this type of problem during a live set. It seems to happin after about 30 to 40 mins? we both run fire wire 410 sound cards.

The slave computer is a HP laptop computer. I have a g4 powerbook. we run the samesound cards, m-audio firewire 410, witch has a midi port. We both have controlers, the oxegen 8 and an evolution-u control. We succesfully run two computers for 30-40 mins and the midi sync drops out from the master, we can eventually tell by the music dropping from being beat macthed.

note: the oxegen 8 is being used on the mac.

thank you for helping.

This probablly will not help in the least but i've run 2 hour sets with both a mac and a pc (osx and xp respectivally) synched to an external hardware sequencer. Years ago I used a computer as master and was unhappy with the results. I will always use a hardware sequencer as my master or at least untill I'm convinced that I will not have a problem with it.
