i really like the sound of pitched down vocals.......is it as simple as picking a vocal in a key say..... seven semitones up from the key of my track and then pitching them down seven semitones??
For a 5th
track = in C minor
pick vocal in key of g (seven semitones up)
then 7 semitones down to C
Is this correct???
pitched down vocals in key to track?

umm? i think knowing what your supposed to do is pretty important.
singing in random keys until it sounds right is probably not to best way to work.

I think pitching vocals down by 7 semi-tones is going to sound bad even using Lives complex algo. But if thats the sound you are after then no problem.
I suppose it depends if you are after an effect, so that the vox sound deliberately pitched down in a wierd artefacty kind of way, or if you are trying to provide a genuine sounding vocal from a different key.
I guess you're going for effect by the way you describe in which case, pull the audio clip into abes and use the transpose knob to dump it down to the key you want.
If not then melodyne is probably your best bet and even then some fierce formant tweaking will be reqwuired to try and recapture an original sounding vocal...but I suspect artefacts will rule the day after moving stuff down 7 semitones.
