Hey guys just a quick question!
Been looking around the web for a good book in regards to producing EDM music (specifically trance)
I heard Rick Snowmans Dance Manual is a good buy so I went to search it up and I found the three different books (Vol.1, Vol.1 Second edition and Vol.2) I was just about to order Vol.1 Second Edition when I found that there was a Vol.2. My question is should I purchase Vol.1 Second edition before buying Vol.2? Or will Vol.2 have all the information in the first one plus more? I can't find any reviews on it so I thought I would ask here hoping to find an answer. Thanks!

I won't answer your question but... thanks for mentioning Vol. 2, I have Vol 1 2nd edition and it's a very useful reading.

Looks like there's not much overlap between volumes 1 & 2 and it won't be out till september this year anyway. http://www.focalpress.com/Book.aspx?id=20340
I liked volume 1, it's not trance specific but does have a chapter on it. What exactly are you hoping to get out of the book?

oops! didn't see that Vol.2 comes out September this year haha
I am hoping to understand more about music theory and the different aspects of it, such as how to properly edit synths and different types of sounds to make a song. I also wanted to know what all the different editing features do (I know some from trial and error but from every new thing I come to understand, I end up with 10 more questions) so I am hoping this book will really help me get the hang of things in regards to production.

Based on what you just wrote, the Snoman book is right up your alley.
He gives lots of clear examples about how to go about creating tracks in various genres.
