Yeah, why not. For the price you won't find much different.

you can almost be sure that youll want to replace them pretty soon. . (once you realize what youre missing).. wait till you can spend between 300-400 and you wont be wasting your money..

I got a pair of the av40's... and they were not very good monitors... better than crappy computer speakers or nothing at all... but I eventually saved up to get some better monitors and it made a big different... I'm not saying don't buy them, but I will say if you have the patience to save up for something better, I'd highly recommend it. Though that is the only thing you are going to get for that price unless you find something used for a bomb deal!

I'd suggest something like this http://www.zzounds.com/item--TNYREVEAL501A

if you buy through somewhere like zzounds.com or sweetwater.com, they will break your payments up into 3 or 4 so its a little more affordable if you're tight on cash. I've never had issues ordering from online vendors. plus you may be able to avoid the sales tax depending where you live.

save your money and put money into your monitors. it doesn't matter what you do inside Live, it doesn't matter what plug ins you use, it doesn't matter how good your production skills get you will not get the most out of your music with crappy monitors. when I upgraded to proper monitors (from Event TR6 to Adam A7) production really opened up for me and the Event TR6s are better than what you're looking to get. doing audio production with crappy monitors is like performing open heart surgery through a keyhole, you simply can't see the whole picture or use your tools very effectively.

if you NEED something now, get very good headphones.

Yamaha 80HS on E-Bay

http://cgi.ebay.com/Yamaha-HS80M-HS-80M ... 0635091857

These are the best monitors in that price range you can get.
None of the others are close to the clearnes the Yamahas have.

M-Audio are over-bassed and distorted in the hights, they lie in all frequencies and are a pain
when you try to compare the sound to other sound systems.

Yamahas sound flat and are flat, and could be said a bit harsh, but very clean and clear.
This gives you a objective look at your sound, and if it sounds good on them them in 95% it
sounds good on other sound systems.

240 watts, 8inch bass cone and 4 amps for each speaker are the best you can imagine
and worth of waiting till you have the money. Your close and should wait ...

The next monitors who really are much better are the Adams for 3-4 times the price of the Yamahas.

Go and find a dealer where you can listen to different speakers.
Take your own CD you really like and know with you.

Bye..., and Good Luck !!!
