in this scenario ...why not just route the output of the return? if you're going to monitor it from another track...
the whole idea of 'external audio fx' is to route and receive on the same track with compensated delay..
besides.. if you record with monitor set to 'in'..
latency compensation isn't even active...(needs to be 'off')
and in this case you need to make sure that the ALL sends are disabled on that track as well..
and to the OP..
why are you feeding everything to Ext.1/2 and not via master bus->Ext.1/2 ?
any specific reason ?
