Alesis M1 Active 320 USB monitors?

I am looking for an interface and monitors and I saw that these are only $90. But what I am wondering is if I have some drums playing in Live and plug a guitar into the 1/4" input on the monitors, will the drums still be audible on the monitors or would doing that take over the input steaming over the USB from the computer?

Also, how is their stuff in general? I never used any of their equipment before but they have some inexpensive gear and I am also thinking about getting an Alesis keyboard.

I am thinking that since they do not have a dedicated guitar/instrument input, that I would need a preamp, mixer, or separate interface for guitar, or if I want to mic a guitar amp?

Although even if I had to get something else like the MultiMix 4 USB for $79, under $200 for monitors, a mixer and a interface is cheap for all of that, since then I could go through that USB for the interface and just use the 320's as regular monitors.

But what I am wondering is, the monitor's description has guitar effects listed as one of the things that can go into it's input to use as an interface, so does that mean that if I were to just get a effects pedal, that it would be enough to use one of the inputs for recording guitar? I would think that would be the same as going out of the amp and into the monitor input, so I am wondering why it would have guitar effect listed there.
