How can I figure out how many notes are in a MIDI file?

Hi,

I have some MIDI versions of large classical works and I'm curious to know their respective "note count". Does anyone know how to do this, like a "word count" feature in a word processor?

Thx

I have no idea whatsoever about any sort of note-counting software, but if the classical works are reasonably well known (and by the definition "classical" I would assume so :) ) perhaps the information is already out there on the internet, some sort of index of the "busiest" classical pieces or something?

Sorry I can't be further help, just a thought really...

thanks for the thought. yeah, i wasn't really finding anything in the way of software or raw published data. i was hoping to compare the 'note density' of a couple different works, and seeing as how there's tons of MIDI transcriptions of classical stuff, i thought it would be as simple as a 'get info' command. no dice though..
