Recording analogue machines (Juno, 808, 909..) with Ableton.

Post by RCA1 » Tue Feb 22, 2011 4:45 pm

Hi

All my studio gear is analogue and I am thinking of converting to ableton for sequencing, fx, mixing and saving onto HD. Will any of these steps tarnish the analogue sound?

Regards

we'll soon see because that's exactly what i'm doing. of couse the end result is only as good as the weakest link in the chain so if you're using digital effects on it then it'll affect the sound (maybe negatively) accordingly.

Yes, it will.
I've never come across a soundcard that can capture an 808's live sound exactly.
But you should not worry about it, it will sound good enough.
