Make a sound more close and warm?

Post by idl » Sun Feb 27, 2011 9:38 pm

Hey,

I've got some finger snap samples I'm trying to use, but they have a small amount of reverb which I want to get rid off. Any tips to make them sound closer to the ear and more "warm" (best word I can think of.. )?

Cheers :)

With vocals I've noticed that if you record a really dry close sound, it can sound really thin, but if you then add some nice impulse reverb on it (like Altiverb -> Recording studios -> some studio room with relatively close mics), you get a wider sound that instantly sounds actually both warmer and closer - even when it's actually with MORE reverb. The vocal still doesn't sound too wet, but it just sounds bigger.
