Too many = greater than one

(but then I don't count Reaktor as a soft synth  )

Really? Which one (not including reaktor, of course)?

On second thought, perhaps we should save that for another thread..........

Hate it. Any software that requires one of my USB ports for this shit is off my menu.

If Ableton goes with iLok I guess I have paid my money now. It is the unexpectedness of opening a product and finding that you can't use it without buying another product. But all companies should go with the same dongle because of the limited USB ports.

One is too many, two is not enough.

And I hate, hate, hate dongles and refuse to buy software that uses them. I don't like anything that punishes legitimate users.

An internal ilok would be totally bitching. Like, one that sits on top of an extra USB header or something.
I'm sure there would be a way to squeeze something into a laptop too.

not likely on the laptop idea.. and there are more than enough ports on most desktops to accommodate the iLok. I would actually rather use a PCIe usb card than the motherboard ports, though. i have a card with 4 external usb ports. 2 are going to my 7-port hubs (1 of which is only being used when i need to stick in a flash drive) and 1 to my lexicon mx400.

i don't understand why people are so against iLoks when the benefits are very clear. you NEVER have to worry about losing your licenses from a crash, can take them with you wherever you go, don't have to wait on customer support to receive more unlocks, etc.

the only system i like better than my iLok is NI's service center.

i think Ableton's system is inconvenient at best.
