Post by Ben_Binary » Thu Mar 03, 2011 12:39 pm

Is the iPad2 any better than the original if using it for a controller ?

iPad1 are pretty cheap now :)

It looks like the accelerometer in the iPad2 could allow velocity sensitivity for iOS controller software or iOS instruments.

If this is the case, then I'd pay the extra for the iPad2.

It's got twice the processing power of the iPad1, but if you're just going to use it as a controller and not for instrument apps then I'd stick with the 1st gen.

1st Gen is definitely one to keep around for controller stuff.
That new iPad looks like it would feel more fragile. The 1st gen is built like a tank compared to the new one. And it suddenly became a cheaper solution, as I expect a few million people to want to upgrade soon. The warranty hasn't even expired yet.

I love the yearly iPhone upgrade path, I can always sell my old phone for more than I paid for it, sometimes double. Makes upgrading a no brainer.
