Ableton VS Maschine PT 2 23 songs in 46 days
Ableton VS Maschine PT 2 23 songs in 46 days
i posted an earlier project last year where I recorded 10 songs in 10 days using Ableton and Maschine. I got a nice reaction from both communities so I decided to do something again, but a bit different. I decided to do something that we can all relate to----force myself to make music out of the leftovers...you know those tracks that have been sitting on your hard drive taking up space, that one beat you made when you were loaded and never went back to, the track that had the bad bassline so you ditched it...etc. I was just as guilty of this as anyone and I know it's something we've all struggled with---finishing shit.
So I took 23 of those tracks and gave myself 2 nights each to make them into something that I thought was workable. Hopefully you think it is too, feedback welcome. This is the result....."Airlock Volume 2" free download [posted on Maschine board also] I've learned a ton from everyone on here over the years, hope you like what you hear.

do you have a (personal) opinion or better a conclusion about this topic after your journey? very interested in your long time experience.

nice idea and great job man!
for me is way harder to work with an old track than to make a new one.
my record is 21/21 new tracks (the target was 30/30 but didnt make it) with just live.
3-4 tracks was good enough, 5-6 was just ok but everything else was crap lol.
If i add the others i have left behind in the last years = a disk full or crap
ill try what you did (but 10 at the time ;p) as a second and last chance ... and then ill start deleting things. merge projects could be an other saver too.

oh, yes - sounds familiar to me!
a good way of "recycling"!
with some distance, you are able to judge better, i think.
i then decide what`s worth to keep, deleting the unwanted pieces,
and save them as a new project, into another "new" folder.
then, i delete all the old stuff.

thanks for checking it out! As for a conclusion after doing this, I would say that we have so much available to us that it's easy to scrap a track after screwing with it for an hour and just start a new one, but I think I proved to myself that I can make something out of anything, with a bit of work those "boneyard" tracks can be salvaged...so I guess I would say think about it before you throw it away....did I give it enough of a chance or did I just delete it because it wasn't working that second...sometimes a second look is all it takes. And some hard work.
