i have an Akai MPK49, and I had pad problems (of course). I replaced the pads to a yellow pair (same pads though) and I used the "Corx" they sell at mpcstuff. It worked, but the variances in low velocity reduce when striking the pads, you will either get a low number or a higher number. But at least its better than having to bang them to get them to trigger.
so all in all, the mod is def worth doing, and i recommend.
MPK pad sensitivity issue: TOTALLY SOLVED.

I bought the fat pads with the cord and new sensors for my mpc 60. Now the sensitivity is awesome on my mpc and is my main drum controller for live now
