it's rather childish to let others' good fortune make you angry.

wait until you grow up and have to deal with the finances of an adult, it's rife with harsh hindsight financial moments.

pinche gente.

Not only did I get screwed over with share and an unstable release but now you're give away M4L for new suit owners while we only get a measly 30% u fucktards!

Way to go, from my favorite company and favorite software to this...
I'll take your license off your hands if you don't want it anymore.

I won't pay you for it, but I'll totally take it if you want.

ERC they should give their older Ableton Suite 8 owners M4l for free as well. or at least a proper discount ~70%

but yea, then people who bought Ableton Suite 8 and M4L will start to complain. I dunno... Get ur shit together Ableton

OK fan boy I re-read your post.

every single time Ableton offers a discount someone goes on a rant. as you were, I really don't care.

I still really don’t have any interest in M4L but…

Perhaps it would have been nice if they gave you a discount based on how long you’ve been using Live easily traceable to your registered upgrade paths.

Since 8: 20% (That’s right, I’m only giving noobs 20)
Since 7: 30%
Since 6: 40%
Since 5: 50%

Maybe leave it at that. It would be a way to reward long time users.

That’s nice and all but Ableton is a company that likes making money.

You may not like noobs but they bring the biggest chunk of money. Therefore, they should be enticed as much as possible (with bigger discounts).

The rest of us, well, were already on board and will most likely upgrade with or without a discount.

Whoever said that Capitalism was fair? Seems to me like there is a bunch of commies on this board.

I don't want to create patches.

Funny thing, if they had offered it at 50% off, I wouldn't be posting this now. I would have bought it. I bet a LOT of people would have bought it. 50% is a great marketing number. It resonates with people right away.
+1 ...and NI is savvy enough to understand that. I feel a Komplete sale comin' on. :D

do yourself a favor and sell the license to someone who uses the software and doesn't whine about prices.

I don't see his posts as being particularly whiny. More the voice of dissent.

Sure Ableton are out to snag as many new customers as possible but at the same time, treading on your existing customers is not the way I would like to see them go.

Just because other companies do it, doesn't mean it's a kosha business model.

Ableton do actually read and learn from the forums, so it's quite likely that they'll be taking some of this into account when it comes to pricing future offers. People will vote with their wallets if they feel they're being poorly treated and that could spell disaster for Ableton or any other software company. There's a lot of DAWs out there and they won't all survive the credit crunch. Ableton showing appreciation to their existing community can only help them in the long term.

Ableton most definitely come from the Digidesign school of DAW-makers. Squeeze every dollar out of their users until, drag their heels on repeatedly asked for features, release buggy, feature-poor add-ons and updates but still, even then, get fan-bois laying the smack down on anyone, commie or not, who "whines" about it.
I love Live, but feel absolutely no loyalty to Ableton, whatsoever. Save that for Spectrasonics and Camel Audio.
