How can achieve this sound effect??

Post by alvarog » Sun Apr 10, 2011 5:59 pm

Hi, please anyone can tell me how can i create this "gated" o "sliced" sound at the end of this song? (minute 4:23)

http://youtu.be/LFWDZ85icyo

you can listen how the guitar sound are "cut" or gated...

maybe i can achieve with a Live device or maybe there is a VSTi that makes it, i have no clue which is the quickiest way...

Thanks a lot !!

thanks Ken,

yes!! that's the kind of effect. Did you do that??

My question is, is there some VST o device which can achieve that, in a quicker way, maybe on stage situation

i named it "gate", but maybe has it a different name... maybe "bit crusher" or "downsampler"???

thanks again

For anyone who was curious, i have been researching and maybe Audio Damage's BigSeQ could do it:

anyway i just achieved that a few minutes ago, just chopping the audio on arrangement view!!!

ken's way is also good (thanks!!) but i only get good results on "beat" warp mode.

Honestly, they probably just copied and pasted little chunks of the guitar tail. (For the OP question)
