good eq plug ins ?

Post by 3phase » Mon Apr 11, 2011 11:58 pm

i just tested this one and its in relation to abletons inbuild plug extremly beneficial... in the free version allready..

http://www.meldaproduction.com/freevstp ... alizer.php

do you know this company? any other opinions or issues?

and are there others good decend priced eq plugs that one should know? I just realized that upgrading the eq´s is maybe the most effektive way to upgrade the stage sound you achive with live..
at least the melda production eq does a pretty good job here.. hard to touch eq8 afterwards again...

and i ve heard a few digital eq´s allready... i dindt had the impression that eq8 is especially awfull before. but than.. i havent spend time with eq plug ins for quite a while.

what are the best eq plug ins wright now?

i send the melda one in the ring now.... which other eq plug is up for the challange?

Redline EQ is really good.

It has linear phase and different vintage phase settings that you can enable for each band,
dynamic eq capability and also mid/side left/right options.

at $169 it isn't the cheapest around but considering what it offers it's value for money imho.

ok.. but to send a linear phase eq into the ring with a normal filter is maybe not correct..

linear phase eq´s can do wonders but come with a price of latencys respnse times and cpu usage that dont really make them an ideal choice for stage sound mixing or in general channel eq...

theese melda guys have a linear phase eq aswell..and its also pricy...

But i am looking for an eq 8 replacment.. easy operatable.. not too cpu hungry .. good grip on the sound without smearing or hardening it too much.. dirty tricks like analoge emulation welcome...and hardware and dongle independent

anything else matching that profile?

well that's the thing with Redline EQ - linear phase is an option.
i very rarely use it; i normally opt for one of the console emulations instead (there's 3 neve types, an ssl, two api's and a tube option)

check out the specs - http://www.112db.com/redline/equalizer/?specifications

I'd like to recommend this one, it's my personal favorite.
Some really cool features in this one and it's only running $109
It's low on cpu(for me) and No dongle!

Echo whats has allready been posted - Redline EQ for character/dynamics or fabfilter Pro-Q for general use and especially if you want to be surgical - just leave it on its zero latency setting for general use.
Nothing to see here - move along!

Sonnox (sony oxford) eq for highpassing, shelving and general frequency shaping, Waves Q10 for precision cuts. Neither have pretty spectrum analyser built in but they do work very well.

Yes
I tested a slew of EQs together, any price range, I would have bought the most expensive one if it was the best. I bought EQuality. Exceptionally good EQ. Surgical.
