Please could someone tell me if the m audio delta 44 would be ok to use as a DJ soundcard, i just want to be able to hear the track i want to cue a track without it playing over the main output.
I guess it would work, but can someone who is using one please advise!!
I use a desktop PC so PCI soundcard is needed and a firewire audiophile is just too expensive!!
I know i would probably need an external headphone amp for the headphone out - could i use an old amp from a technics separates hifi for this?
any help much appreciated!!

I would seriously consider alternatives before buying a card that is so old.
EG: this one - http://www.nusystems.co.uk/buy.asp?n=EMU-0404&p=1060
I have no idea what these EMU cards are like , but at £65 it seems cheap.
The Delta is fine as sound cards go, it does the job and the company is still in business and producing drivers which is a plus in the tech industry.
The IO box has a handy phantom power function for mic's.
The only issues I have are:
using the omniIO box the headphones outs are hardwired across all outputs, which is just stupid.
It doesnt seem to manage the same tricks as my tiny laptop card (echo indigoDJ) which lets me open multiple versions of Live and smartly gives them 'virtual outs' . The m-audio just says 'driver in use' , or similar when I try to open two instances of Live.
But as my laptop is about twice as powerful as my desktop I dont really care. I will get one of the firewire jobs for more serious work soon, that way I can use it on both.
