Noise Maker Free VST instrument

Post by timbreman » Sun Apr 17, 2011 4:22 pm

In my ongoing attempt to find the best free VST instruments out there I present to you "Noise Maker" by Tal.

If you're into making Electro, Dubstep or DnB then you should check this synth out.
Enjoy the vid.

Yeah as far as free VSTs go, Noisemaker is pretty damn good. Well, anything by TAL is really. I like their bit crusher too. :)

Never been a fan of TAL tbh; their synths are very poor indeed.

Noisemaker is pretty good.

But why get Noisemaker when you can get Tyrell (also for free)?

(don't mean to spam, but I REALLY love this synth)

Quite the contrary. TAL make high quality synths and it is outstanding that they are free.

You shouldn't confuse your preferences with quality.

I hadn't heard about Tyrell until I came across this thread.

How the hell is it free? It's really good. Very deep and expressive, though it takes a bit of getting used to (like all U-He stuff)

Totally disagree with you there, i find there synths to be very grainy, lacking features and tonal quality.

This is pretty excellent as far as free synths go - http://jeremyevers.com/atlantis/ though not being coded in C++ it isn't the most efficient.

There's also this one http://www.greenoak.com/crystal/indexDesktop.html which is coded in C++ - quite incredible really, when you consider it's free.

And then of course there's this incredibly popular one, also coded in C++ http://www.geocities.jp/daichi1969/softsynth/ it may be ugly but it's pretty powerful with a very low CPU consumption.

Tyrell is a magazine-ware "teaser" for Urs' next payware synth - DIVA.

DIVA will have a similar approach from what I can gather, but it will have switchable oscillator and filter models.

I think Tyrell is the closest I've come to the sound and feel of analogue hardware in the software domain... so DIVA should be awesome.
