Anyone wana try making this sound?

Post by bedroomDJ » Sun Apr 17, 2011 7:29 pm

so its a dub wobble by sukh knight.. in massive i could see it being made with the daft filter... im not sure at all in ableton... but this is alot different than like say Doctor P or something.. compared to that id say it has an analog feel. Also if anyone knows weather he made a synth with sub bass or layered two different synths. thanks

definitely layered synths, most likely a sin wave for the subby part and there are a few different ways you could make the higher, distorted part. Any synth with a hard sync is probably your best bet. Along with some filter automation of course.

ok.. well i have massive.. so i can do that.. however. im just curious when u say filter automation, do you mean like add an auto filter then automate it to preference? or is there some other tool or method.

ya, you could do that, i think you can do this inside massive, by routing an automation to the filter within massive too. But notice how that higher part of the pass has that kinda wob or wooow sound, even though it happens pretty quickly, that is due to the filter opening and closing. so i would use a lowpass, and maybe use an lfo routed to the filter cutoff frequency with a fairly high rate, so that when you play one note, the filter sweeps open and closed so it gets that WOW sound.

this is basically standard procedure to get a "wobble," but in this case the note is so short it really only gets one "wob" in there, so if you looked up some other vids about getting a wobble bass (especially with massive) it might help you out.

Hope that helps!

sounds like 2 or 3 different very similar bass sounds alternating, all with the same 1st ocillator and with different 2nd or 3rd oscillators on top - probably predator or albino imo. The sub i'd imagine is on its own channel with the lfo modulating volume rather than the filter.

should be a piece of piss to make in sampler on ableton if you have a load of basic pwm/square waveforms lying around and a few hours to try them out agains each other
