Love Love Love Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts... listening to it so much this past year or so. Along with that I have also been loving former M83 members new band Team Ghost - You Never Did Anything Wrong to Me EP.

I can only begin to deconstruct Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts before I get lost in it. Any info on its making?

One of the best concerts I ever saw! To bad Mazzy Star canceled as the opener.

Caribou is one of the more current things I've heard and really liked in a shoegaze fashion, On one album is riddled with 60's guitar sounds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ze9vgIvVtGg

Hanadensha's "Narcotic Guitar" album is fucking EPIC! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVgjFKRv ... re=related

Here's some of that sound in the earlier days and how it was recorded.

Shoegaze... Is that what they call that brooding, UK New Wave sound from the 80's nowadays? I was big on Jesus and Mary chain back then. Also seldom heard/obscure bands like The Lotus Eaters, the Wild Swans and pre-Lightning Seeds The Care. Thank you to the original poster for making me aware of this genre revival. Will be checking out some of the bands that everybody is mentioning on this thread.

like i already said, before m83 i thought this type of music was just called new wave.
i guess the only thing that makes it not new wave is the quiet vocals.

No it wasn't.
New Wave and Dream Pop were around at the same time, and they're pretty distinct. Shoegaze even more so.

Why are you saying this?

You can do some really cool stuff with Lives send section. Create plenty of return tracks and load them up with delays, reverbs, chorus, distortion and whatever else takes your fancy. Also set some of the sends to "pre" and turn the volume down on the audio tracks going to that return track. This will give you only the effected audio.

Use the sends on the return tracks to effect the already effected signals.

I've been listening to alot of Tim Hecker music lately, I'm not sure what you would call it but he's got some great sounds. Grouper is also making some amazing music too.

If you're gonna play with feedback loops, you might want to use something other than Ableton Live.

The way it oscillates nowadays is kinda borked.
I dunno what they did. But it's wrong now.

These are my mates from Napier
They sound like an instrumental My Bloody Valentine crossed with Godflesh.
No singing just delayed guitar+bass+drums
