Ableton MIDI Clock Slave

Post by v0ins315 » Tue May 03, 2011 2:42 am

I have a Xone 92 connected to my MBP via an M-Audio Uno (MIDI to USB cable). I open ableton -> preferences -> MIDI/Sync -> Select M-Audio Uno as MIDI in, and turn on Track & Sync. I then close prefs and select EXT in the top left of the window. Is there anything else I am supposed to do? because it's not working. Ableton doesn't respond to any of the tap tempo/tempo adj midi message. However it wil respond to the xone filter midi messages. Please help!

u sure the xone sends midi-clock ??
because when 'ext' is enabled... Lives' transport will wait for MidiClock messages..
it's more likely that Live is the 'Master' and Xone is the slave/clock-thru..
in this case .. you should enable 'Sync' on the Uno midi output

I think you might be mixing some terms up...
first .. I don't think the 'xone' has a 'control surface automap' in Live..
so automatically mapping the 'tap' tempo is out of the question

if you want a 'tap tempo' (midi)button on the xone.. to map to the 'tap' (tempo) button in Live...
I think you're supposed to simply midi map it ? (ctrl-m)

(never had this device so not so sure..I could be wrong)
