bit-crushing hardware?
bit-crushing hardware?
I've been using Ableton's bit-reduction on a few live instruments and really love the sound. I'd like to play these instruments (like an acoustic guitar) when performing, and I want to get the same distorted, eroded effect I'm getting from the Ableton plugin.
Does anyone know of, or can recommend a hardware unit that accomplishes the same thing?
Thanks!

Re: bit-crushing hardware?
might be overkill but i can get the same results using a UBK Fatso with some extreme settings.. but this box offers so much more.. i use it for for tracking and running stems out to it to give it warmth.. i mention it also cuz i've ran acoustic guitar thru it and it sounds incredible. (assuming you have a nice mic and mic pre)..

doepfer A-189-1 Voltage Controlled Bit Modifier / Bit Cruncher

Wow, big variety of gear there. The red panda looks like a bargain, but I wasn't impressed with the sound, to be honest. The biscuit is gorgeous and sounds great, as does the UBK Fatso. I think the Doepfer is the best sound for the dollar, though.
I guess I'd have to make a mini-box for it or buy a rack to put it in.
Thanks for all the info!
