Just bought Maschine!
Just bought Maschine!
Sorry I know its annoying when people get so horny about new gear that they have to tell the world, but holy crap!
Bought Maschine yesterday and can't get my hands off it. I'm like a Maschine pervert.
Maschine already does things Ableton, Steinberg, Novation, etc couldn't sort out in the last ten years.
Still learning, it goes surprisingly deep, but it seems to be capable of doing a lot of different jobs really well.
I mean, its a Drum Pad Controller, a step sequencing groovebox, an MPC style sampler, a plug-in tweaker, a basic DAW...
2 defining moments for me since I got Maschine yesterday:
1 - Messing with tutorials and got lost in the groove. Was experimenting with Maschine and having fun when suddenly my screen saver came on - I hadn't touched the mouse in 20 minutes!
2 - The first time I loaded a VST into Maschine and saw pages of parameters automatically mapped to the 8 knobs. WOW.
I'm just blown away.

Ya Maschine is one of those things where it's hard to keep your excitement bottled up.
You will certainly find that you wish it had this or that after no time, especially used as a plug-in.
Needs:
-timestretch.
-automation of patterns, volumes, mutes and more parameters (or more macros)
-timeline cursor over sample playback

Yeah I was trying to explain my excitement to my girlfriend and she seemed more concerned with how much it cost me Maschine was never gonna be friends with her though anyway.
I think what I want already is Ableton come up with a rival device. Either that, or NI make a bull blown DAW out of Maschine. Or both, for the sake of competition.
Either way, I'm finally getting close to my ideal level of mousing, i.e as little as possible.
I'm really looking forward to getting some good maps going and getting used to using some of my favourite plug-ins with the 8 knobs.

Haha i know exactly what you mean. I always get really excited over new gear and it ends up coming up when I'm hanging out with my girlfriend. I later realize it probably bored her to death. Maschine looks cool.. if i was into beat making.condra wrote:Yeah I was trying to explain my excitement to my girlfriend and she seemed more concerned with how much it cost me Maschine was never gonna be friends with her though anyway.
Re: Just bought Maschine!
It's far from being just for "beat making". It's a full-on workstation with a hardware style hands-on workflow. And a x0x step sequencer. And an alternative to Live's session view that can record automation in realtime.kanuck wrote:Maschine looks cool.. if i was into beat making.

.. and an alternative to Novation Automap
It seems to have evolved into something much bigger than a groovebox

Haha! Ill check my bank account against my bills when I get home from work!! Got perfect space for it ready in the studio, and it even gets its own screen. I love sampling, and thats the main reason for me. Now I just sample straight into Session, make some cuts, crop/consolidate and so on. But this shold be much quicker on the Maschine!condra wrote:whatever it is, do it (unless you were thinking of selling a kidney, or a daughter)ze2be wrote:I sooo want one.
