Please Help With My Uni Assignment Based On Ableton :)

Post by ct43 » Sun May 08, 2011 7:40 pm

Hello guys... I would really appreciate your thoughts on this assessment video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozoxunLC ... ideo_title

Its for my 'Live Performance Project' module on my MSc Music Tech course. Ive been doing this for about 3 months now. From an academic point of view its coming to a close soon. So I would be EXTREMELY grateful if you could find a few minutes to fill a form in about the video....

I need it to assess how successful ive been in some of my assessment / intended outcome areas... Here are the forms:

Word Format: http://www.warehouse-trax.com/downloads ... t_Form.doc

Pages Formate: http://www.warehouse-trax.com/downloads ... Form.pages

Thanks Ableton crew ;)

Carl.

hey carl, long time no post! (I used to be 'Forge' on here)

wicked set man!

Don't know if this feedback is helpful, but I've been more or less heading in the same direction as you since the days of Ableton yore and you just provided me with some insight about what is missing from a performance point of view!! I've been trying to figure this out for a while, but I just thought as I'm watching this, the main drawback with these controllers is that they are not visible enough to the audience. Clever full body knob teaks are not seen from this angle! ;-)

I'm also in the process of working out my controller setup with the VCM600, Launchpad, nanoKontrol, UC33e, FCB1010 - and a MIDI keyboard - if I really need any or all of them...... not sure yet, but you gave me food for thought that maybe the point is getting lost with controllers that can't really be seen from the audience.

sounds great though!!

Hey Forge :) yeah ive just been getting back into Ableton recently... ive been on the MPC for a few years..

yeah I agree that a lot of what we do can be lost on the audience... I think its something the majority of electronic acts have a problem with. Ive started to think that it will never get to the stage of what a band can offer (in terms of what can be decoded) BUT opening up a few elements for people to take in, will hopefully make it more fun for the performer and audience as well...
