My guess is you route the audio from the Track with your VST on it, to another Track, ARM that track and start recording.

as an aside....

they just released 2.2.1 for Pinky VST last month.

I love it....I spin mainly wax but like to have pinkys up and loaded so I can easily swith between wax and timecode. Serves me WELL.

Bottom red button on each track, also know as the "ARM" button.

thanks for the tip
i tried that yesterday but failed.
maybe because i set the output of the ms pinky vst to deck 1 and the rest of the ableton set to deck 2, so that i can switch with the crossfader between deck 1 and 2. but with that configuration i can only mix it right, but cannot record it right - it records only vst output and not the output of deck 1 that i can hear.

so how do i ONLY redcord what happens on deck 1 - with the same sound as i mix it?

in these clips i'm using a macbook with an NI audio8 DJ soundcard (it has phono pre's which also work for ms pinky)

on the ms pinky vst channel in live, i set the inputs to receive from the relative soundcard inputs from the turntable,
in this case i'm using input 1 and 2. i route my outs to 3 and 4 for ms pinky,
as my main beats come out of outputs 1 and 2 of the sound card

ms pinky vinyl is currently on generation 4, which is cool for timecode scratching.
hope this helps
cool company, very hands on (scuse the pun), i've been chatting to scott and he's always so helpful.

ms pinky is running perfectly in ableton

but i asked how i can record only what i am scratching (what would be the output of the left turntable of my mixer) - so how could i use 2 soundcards (audio 4 dj and creative sb x-fi) so that i can send the input from the first deck thru the audio 4 dj to ableton (that ms pinky works) and the output from the first deck thru the mixer to my soundcard-line in.
