How do I see the original tempo of an audio track?

Post by peter_heard01 » Fri Jun 10, 2011 9:42 am

When I drag a track into ableton it starts analysing it. And as soon as it does the tempo in the clips properties changes to whatever the master bpm is. Im wondering is it possible to see the original track bpm even when the clip has been warped...I have to get the actual file and use another piece of software on it....

--double click the clip (once you have dragged it into session view)

-- look for a box under "WARP" that says "ORIGINAL BPM"

done!

If you have an audio track, there is no BPM recorded along with it -- it's just audio.

Warping the track identifies where the beats are, which by inference gives it a BPM.

The loop is "funky drummer" played by Clyde Stubblesfield as part of James Brown's band.

It's about 89 bpm from memory (unless they repitched it for this track).

Cheers
