operator sub bass glitch, why?
operator sub bass glitch, why?
Hi,
read that some years ago, but I also here some strange glitches in the attack when I play sub bass with operator. Full Sustain and no matter what attack or release, there`s a small break between the notes, so no overlap exists.
You don`t hear that in the mix, but in a break for example. I did always record them and cutoff a bit of the noisy attack that appears sometimes. Don`t hear it every time.
I´m using operator monophonic, but changing it doesn`t help. Any ideas?
Thanks

Re: operator sub bass glitch, why?
it happens with most sine wave sub basses. at those frequencies the wave length of the oscillator is getting pretty long... so waveform could end/start at a non zero value, like when a sample doesn't end on a zero... its that sort of click innit. That's what I think is going on. weird how attack and release don't help.there's a sync wave form setting on operator that controls whether a waveform is freerunning or synced with midi on messages... maybe that could help.

Thanks a lot oddstep, I did already think about the phase, but not at the end points, think you are right , that could be the reason.
Do you mean the phase retrigger function? The small R at the OSC`S?

Seems to work, thanks oddstep!

Re: operator sub bass glitch, why?
Adding an auto filter and bringing down the frequency can take out the blips and give you a nice transition between notes. It's how I do it!
Re: operator sub bass glitch, why?
If you're using a compressor on your sub bass be sure to check it's attack, as well, since it's also applying an envelope to the sound.
