I've read this tutorial and almost have Maschine set up how I want it, with just one problem...

I dunno if I'm using Maschine wrong, but on some groups I have multiple samples mapped across the 16 keys, and then I can select each of those samples in turn and go into keyboard mode, enabling me to play them all chromatically, and then I can record patterns into Maschine and they all play back properly.
The problem I'm having when using Maschine as a plugin in Ableton is that I can't seem to drag and drop the midi from within Maschine into Ableton, remove the midi from Maschine and then have it play back as it was from within Maschine. I realise Maschine has it's own internal midi routing going on, but is there a way to set up Ableton so it acts in exactly the same way, with all these separate samples being played back chromatically?
For the time being I'm dragging out the audio but I'd like to keep it all midi for the flexibility.
