I think it was just wishful thinking. AFAIK, it was never endorsed by Ableton.

How Many??

Post by Acervuli » Fri Feb 11, 2005 4:21 pm

I asked the Abes about a group buy and they asked "how many?". Wanna do a head count? Again?

Like so many other internet projects, it probably has fizzled away in to the place where vaporware goes, or "the other sock wtf did it go"

You should make an online signup or something and actually get your group buy organized... otherwise, it'll just be a bunch of "me too's" on the internet and it'll fall through.

Possible Operator Group buy

Post by Acervuli » Fri Feb 11, 2005 5:12 pm

I'm waiting to hear back from the Abes before I do all that. I sent them a quantity scenario to see what kind of discount we could get.

Then I'll probably use kvraudio.com market place to coordinate everbody.

Thanks for the advice. Riley

I'm in at $99.00 and down.

There where only about 50 "Yes" on the group buy poll. I think that's not enought to get a serious price drop.

There's a group buy going on with the Sytrus VSTi on the FLStudio site. The list with number of people signed / price cuts seems pretty indicative, given that Operator's price is about the same...

Im going to stick with my FM7. I havent quite come around to Operator. Much rather wait where Im getting this along with a major upgrade. Money should be better spent by then.

Me too...

What number of buyers do we need to get this price?

Writing "Me Too" 10 times won't help.

Version A
- ask around how many people are in for a group buy WITHOUT A PRICE MENTIONED. Then count, send it to ableton and arrange a price. Go back to your folks, name the price and see how many jump off. Count again, go back to Ableton and so on...

Version B
- ask Ableton how many people you need for a price, let's say 100€. Try to reach that number. If you don't, count the people you have so far and ask Ableton again for a slighly higher price.

Think of a way of thrustworthy way to organize and transfer let's say 6000 euros for 60 Operators @ 100€

Yes, someone has to organize this. No, I won't do it. But I'm in at any price lower than the 129€ in the webshop.

Why "thrustworthy way" - Ableton makes a special site in their online shop that is sent to the ones registered to the group buy. That is it.

I would also be interested,

Best

Makes as in "They will do this, they have time.." I suppose? Great, then everyone can blame them again why they organize group-buys instead of fixing bugs in Live.
