Tell them to put features that need to be implemented in Ableton 9.

The problem with this is that the clip automation (what you see in individual clips and can access in Session mode) is relative (a percentage) while the normal automation (what you can see in Arrangement mode) is absolute. E.g. if your filter's cutoff is at 100 and you use clip automation set to 50, then it would set the cutoff to 50 (50% of 100 is 50). If The cutoff was 50 and you use clip automation set to 50, then it would set the cutfoff to 25 (50% of 50 is 25).

To add absolute automation to every clip would mean redoing the whole clip automation system, which would break backwards compatibility and would definitely be less than ideal for those that take advantage of the relative system.

Thanks for the explanation.. Sounds great...One more question what do you think would be a really great Perimetric EQ... such as sonalksis SV-517... ...EQ-8 is ok but not as flexible as to delivering a very smooth sound.

also, go through the immense live 9 request thread and pick out the good ones and try to consolidate the list down to a readable format for a presentation, such as useability, workflow, implementation and so on.

unless told otherwise ofcourse, in which case my first day at Ableton would be "do what the boss tells me to do".
