What exactly did happen to 8.2.4?
Just curious, since the last thread asking what happened here got derailed - can someone actually explain why 8.2.4 was shelved after an extended beta period?
Yes the obvious short answer is Lion support, but some of us not on the bleeding edge with our OS are wondering why Ableton abandoned the last pre-Lion version in mid-beta? It would have been nice if it had been completed so we could have benefited from the latest changes for the next year or so prior to finally upgrading our OS.
Or maybe I'm just bitter since I've been dutifully waiting for a couple months for 8.2.4 to cycle out of beta. It seemed like it was getting soooo close, and then - ha! Just kidding! Back to square one...

Re: What exactly did happen to 8.2.4?
Have you noticed anything that worked better in 8.2.4 than 8.2.5? They may have added Lion supports to everything that was in 8.2.4, so you may not have lost anything, only Lion users gained.
That still doesn't answer what happened to 8.2.3 though!

You see where this is going?! I'll start my party when we get to 8.9.9

I'd hardly call it abandoning the .2.4 beta.
They've given it a new increment - the .5 makes sense as it's a serious hike to jig Ableton for Lion.
However .4 must've still been buggy, hence the lack of release.
Don't get het up with the terminology, basically they're still working on it.

About the version numbers - we will sometimes use version numbers for a specific Lite version or internal-only test release. In these cases, there may be a skip in the official version numbering for full-version releases.
