forget it. nobody knows what Ableton are actually doing and they rarely talk.

Don't upgrade yet. Aside from the "known issue" (midi output from live causes crash), I experienced many problems ranging from massive CPU spikes, to all out-crashes. It's not the plugins either - they work fine in other hosts.
I didn't upgrade my main mac, so its cool.
I guess at some point Ableton will sort it out. Anybody's guess when they'll get round to it though.

The new beta is working fine on Lion here, no issues at all.
