Cableguys Midishaper
Cableguys Midishaper
Just seen this on KVR looks good for non M4L users.
Basically its an LFO vst with up to 4 waves available at once.
Just downloaded the demo, now i play the waiting game until i finish work.

That looks pretty nifty. And only $15 until the 23rd August... May have to just get it me thinks.
Re: Cableguys Midishaper
Can you do a random LFO with it?
Re: Cableguys Midishaper
Please post again when you've tested it.

Yes. Besides the 10 waveforms you can also choose Noise for its LFOs. And there's a random button below the waveform area to create a random waveform. Best to give it a try, all our demos are fully-functional, and have no time limit (and you can download the free PanCake here): http://www.cableguys.de/downloads.htmlcabletone wrote:Can you do a random LFO with it?
Re: Cableguys Midishaper
Hmmm.... have not been able to figure out how to route MidiShaper to control an Ableton effct parameter such as Autofilter center frequency.
Use the MIDI teach function?
Edit: MIDI teach did not work with Autofilter frequency (or Ohmforce Frohmage as shown in demo video...)
Probably something simple I haven't figured out out.
Will write CableGuys...

Re: Cableguys Midishaper
i was playing around with this today.
its very easy to map it to different parameters in zebra but i couldn't figure out how to map them in operator as it has no midi learn?
so simple to use though and great for getting atmospheric sounds out of simple patches and not to mention wobble bass in seconds from 10 synths at once!!!
for around £9 i think its well woth getting.

Re: Cableguys Midishaper
get midi yolk,
then set up midi shaper on its own chanel as you do,
next create another midi chanel, taking a midi imput from the midi shaper chanel set its out put to be a midiyolk chanel. (im using midi yolk 5)
now set up another midi chanel and put your ableton device/syth in here, and set its midi imput to be midi from midi yolk (midi yolk 5)
now just go into midi map mode and when you click on any peramiter to map it, it will take up whatever CC number you have assigned to the midi shaper LFO.

Re: Cableguys Midishaper
ah midi map mode why didn't i do that
Slightlydelic - why are you using midi yoke? you just set the channel with your synth/fx to in and the midi channel with midishaper to the input source.

Re: Cableguys Midishaper
it looks great, but if it's like any other midi modulator vst i've used in Live, it'll be fine for 3rd party plugs but a pain to set up for Live's own devices (Live's fault) and require midiyoke/iac to route the cc's out and back in again. grr.
hope i'm wrong here tho...?
[ moan ] Live handles vsts like this even worse when they use audio too. take pizmidi's audio2cc - that requires 1x audio track and 2x midi tracks to get it working...

Re: Cableguys Midishaper
thanks for the tips... I did remember IAC but ... sheesh.. i don't want to have to use it and set up 2 midi channels just to send an LFO somewhere. maybe this won't be the case with MidiShaper.

i cant get the peramiter to assign to whatever i want to control doing that way.sebrov wrote:ah midi map mode why didn't i do that

it only works for me if i route the midi out and back in again.
works fine like you mention for vst's runnning in ableton that have a midi learn function but not for abletons own instruments

Here's a video of the routing in Ableton:

I don't have Operator, but wouldn't this work with it too?

no thats how it works for a vst.
ableton instruments seem to want the midi control to come from outside of ableton.
Re: Cableguys Midishaper
yep. you'd need to route to throught a virtual midi stream...
back into live 'remote'...
looks neat...
but too much hassle for me to use with all the routings..
btw I love the cableGuys stuff..
they have a unique approach... LOVE THE HUGE ENVELOPES
I've been eyeing 'filterShaper' for a long long time now
it's on the list...
also other neat midi lfos and such (requiring routings) :
