I just upgraded from 5 this year. There are so many new features you are missing. I was caught up using mainly hardware. Now I use both.

i tried 5 and the whole library thing didn't work for the way i think. I'll probably be forced to upgrade soon if I ever want to use something besides Windows XP as an OS. So if there's ever a 9, that will be my next version.

From 4 to 9 is more than doubled. Sounds reasonable. 8)

I'm still on 6 because I can't justify buying 8 because I wouldn't use all the new features.
Definitely gonna pick up 9 when it comes out, though.

I was on 4 until early this summer. Next to Intel support (rocked a PowerBook G4) the external instrument and freeze (faster than render or resample for my workflow) as well as writing my own custom MIDI Remote Scripts were my reasons to upgrade. There is so much new stuff in there to explore ...

I bought Live 3 off flea bay a few years ago then decided i wanted vst midi support and bought 8, but truthfully i use 3 more than anything .. O crashes in 2 years recognizes all vst fx plugins the workflow is so damn smooth. true i use more samples but iam cool with that. There is an old saying: less is more :D
